I write personal essays, which means I get to reconsider my own behavior at considerable length. Family, relationships, grief, spirituality—there’s plenty to work with. Sometimes I follow a thread and find something I hadn’t understood. Sometimes I discover I understood it perfectly and went ahead anyway.
